Louise Garnett (1877-1937) was born in Plymouth, Indiana and moved to Evanston in 1906. She and her husband, Eugene Garnett, lived on Judson Avenue until her death in 1937. While in Evanston she joined the Drama Club of Evanston, the Woman’s Club of Evanston, the Society of Midland Authors, and the Illinois League of Pen Women. She was widely known as a poet, playwright, composer, musician, and author. She wrote four oratories for opera and published 45 songs and many plays as well as children’s books. One of the books she wrote was a novel titled “The Joyous Pretender” and another was a book of verses titled “Eve Walks in Her Garden.”
