Name: Lunyel Crim Barefield

Summary

Lun Ye (Lonnie) Crom Barefield was the College and Career Center Coordinator at Evanston Township High School from 1977-2000. She was also on the Glencoe Historical Society Board of Directors (through at least 2009) and a trustee, treasurer, vice president and president of the Glencoe Public Library from 2001 to 2009. She was a representative in 2001-2004 and 2007-2009 for the North Suburban Library System and a member and board member 2002-2004. Barefield is the recipient of 2002 Gayle C. Wilson Award (NACAC). Besides being also on the board of directors for the Evanston Community Foundation, Barefield took part in the League of Women Voters and attended Second Baptist in Evanston.

Significance

Lun Ye Barefield created a black history scrapbook from the mid-1970s on and she was prominent in encouraging education, knowledge preservation, and technology adoption in education.
