Summary
Ruth McCulloch opened her first shop in Evanston in 1937, expanding to stores in Hubbard Woods and Northbrook. Specializing in American fashion designers, her stores were finely furnished and offered a “genteel” shopping experience. Her logo, with the old-fashioned image a young woman in a broad-rimmed hat, was present from the beginning and did not change through the years. It was used on all advertising and products.
