Rose Jourdain was a writer, editor and teacher, among many other things. She is most commonly remembered for her first novel “Those the Sun Has Loved,” which received critical acclaim from Publisher’s Weekly in 1978. From working at Ebony Magazine to teaching at Evanston Township High School, Rose Jourdain proved herself a force to be reckoned with before the publication of her novel. An advocate of social justice, literary and human rights, and intellectual pursuits, Jourdain’s love for these sectors is evidenced by her tireless crusades and immortality in the community she lived in. Jourdain worked at other Johnson Publishing. She attended Ebenezer AME Church and Second Baptist Church.
